This section gives some details regarding installation and uninstallation process of Copy Handler. As some of you know - it could be tricky sometimes, so read this section before asking questions Yell
Copy Handler could be downloaded as a zipped, official version or as the installer version (unofficial for now). Installation and uninstallation process differs a bit between those two versions.

First installation

This section covers installation of Copy Handler when you don't have a CH installation already on your computer.

[zip] Unpack the archive to some folder of your choosing and run ch.exe from it.
[installer] Run the installer and follow the instructions displayed on screen.

Pretty straightforward - isn't it ?
You would probably want to enable shell integration, so Copy Handler could integrate more closely to you system.

Upgrade

This section covers the installation of a Copy Handler over an old version of the program.
First step in the mentioned case is to ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS uninstall the old version first - take a look at the uninstall section for this. Then you can safely follow the instructions as with first install.

Uninstallation

This section covers uninstallation process of already installed Copy Handler. It can be a tricky part so please read this section carefully.

First step is to unregister shell extension dll from the context menu of program. And after it you must restart your system. This is maybe the most important step of the whole uninstall process. The reason of this is that a dll library that causes Copy Handler to integrate to your system is being locked by a system the first time you use the integration. The only known cure for this lock is what I have written - unregister and restart.

Second step (did you do the first one already?) is to exit the running Copy Handler (if you see the yellow CH icon in your system taskbar).

Third step is dependent on the type of your installation. For installer go to the start menu -> Copy Handler -> Uninstall, and follow the on-screen instructions to remove the program. When you have had a zipped version - just delete the folder with Copy Handler.

Troubleshooting

It is possible that when installing CH on old version, or removing a folder with Copy Handler - the chext.dll file won't be allowed to be deleted. It is because the file is in use and need to be properly unlocked - for instruction on how to achieve it - please read the first step of uninstallation section.
