when copying from one server to another, is there a way to preserve permissions? so far we cannot find where to enable saving of permissions on file copy...

I'm afraid that ACLs are not preserved when copying with CH. Maybe in the future it would be implemented (please file a feature request on sf.net if it does not exist yet).
